Medway residents are being warned about strangers offering cheap electrical goods after a burglary at Gillingham Business Park.

Officers are investigating a break-in at a unit at the industrial estate at around 7.30pm on Tuesday.

It is reported that a large number of faulty mobile phones, tablet computers and laptops due for destruction were stolen.

Ch Ins Simon Alland said: “Criminals will often wrap seemingly new electrical items in cellophane and sell them at incredibly cheap prices to members of the public.

“By the time you check the device and realise it is completely useless, the seller will have moved on.

“They will call door-to-door, set up impromptu stalls on the street or display their faulty goods in the back of a van.

“My message is simple; if a deal looks too good to be true it probably is.”

Anyone who sees someone selling cheap electrical items that they believe may be stolen should call police on 101 quoting reference 27-1606.
