The Webb Sisters, singing siblings who shared the stage with Leonard Cohen on his world tour and featured on Sting’s latest album, helped raise £2,000 for charity.

Hattie and Charley Webb made a guest appearance at a Christmas party hosted by KASBAH (Kent Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus).

The duo, fresh from gigs with Cohen in the United States who calls them “the sublime Webb Sisters”, sang three songs and an encore at the party in the Blues Rock Cafe in Gillingham Football Club’s Priestfield Stadium.

Supporter

Before the party, they visited Hattie Webb House in Weatherly Close, Rochester, to chat to residents and others who use the home.

Hattie has been a long-time supporter of the charity because her father Graham, a Kent-based international haircare businessman, has suffered from spina bifida since birth.

She often pops in to see residents and other people with disabilities during breaks from touring.

Emma Carver, chief officer at KASBAH, said the £2,000 raised by the party exceeded her wildest dreams. An auction had chipped in £1,000, with the rest coming from the sale of nearly 200 tickets.

“It really did go better than we expected and everyone had a nice evening which was important to us because we wanted it to be a party that people talked about,” she said.

“Hattie and Charley were absolutely amazing. We were thrilled that they also found time to visit Hattie Webb House which meant so much to everyone.”
