A parrot who went missing for three days ended up 12 miles away amazingly at the former workplace of its owner’s late father.

Beau the African grey took flight from his home in Murray Road, Frindsbury, on Saturday.

Owners Frankie Smith and mum Natasha Duffy had almost given up hope.

Frankie, 22, had bought the bird as a present for his mum, using money he had been left by his later father, Mark Smith, who died earlier this year from cancer.

Frankie’s sister Chantal Cockerell said: “We are not religious but we were all hoping and praying that Mark might help us get Beau back.”

On Monday, the family received a call to say Beau had been found. He had flown 12 miles away to Thamesport on the Isle of Grain – where Mark worked.

The bird was being attacked by crows and had flown into a crane but a worker managed to catch him with his coat and he was taken to safety where staff gave him nuts and tea.

The family later found out that the men who looked after him had known Mark and worked with him for more than 20 years.

Chantal said: “We cannot believe it. We keep thinking, how could this be just a coincidence?

“We are so grateful to everyone for their help in the search and for sharing our post on Facebook.”
