The widow of a man who died suddenly on Boxing Day said she will treasure the wonderful times she had with the “love of her life”.

Allison Robertson’s world came crashing down when she discovered her husband Dean dead in their bedroom after suffering an aneurysm.

He had been suffering from dizzy spells and although the couple, from Rainham, had discussed him seeing a doctor he did not think he was ill.

Speaking exclusively to the Medway Messenger she said: “We discussed the fact that he should go to the doctors, but he would just brush it off.

“We had a wonderful Christmas Day, it was brilliant, but late that evening he started complaining of a headache.

“In the morning he still felt the same and was sick, he stayed in bed and I came down to be with the children.

“We thought Dean may have had a bit of food poisoning or something, but later at about 10am I went up to check to see if he was feeling any better, but he had already gone.”

Allison dialled 999 and then called her parents before running to a neighbour’s house.

She said: “It was like it wasn’t happening to me, it was like I was watching someone else’s life.

“The neighbours were brilliant and took over for me, I stayed with the children.

“Then paramedics arrived but it was too late, they said Dean had been gone for a while.”

Wonderful man

Although devastated she said she is trying to stay strong for their two children Lucy, three-and-a-half, and Kieran who is 10 months old.

Dean, 41, a self-employed caterer, was a former pupil at the Howard School, in Rainham, and his business was growing.

The couple married 10 years ago at St Margaret’s Church in Rainham.

They met when he used to pop into the Nationwide Building Society where she worked.

Allison, 33, who is on maternity leave, said: “Dean was such a wonderful man, he was a real joker and liked a bit of banter, he was totally devoted to me and our children.

“In fact he was the love of my life, my soulmate and we would spend all our time together. We loved being with each other.

“I have to say I’ve been very lucky, some people never find their soulmate and even though Dean is no longer here, I had him for 12 years and they were wonderful times.

“He and Lucy were really

close and he loved looking after her and Kieran when he arrived.

“I get comfort from the fact that we had 12 happy years together.

“I am trying not to be miserable, but sometimes I have a bad day.

“I must say that my friends, family and the neighbours have been brilliant since it happened, they have all helped me get through.”
