From Friday, March 28, youngsters will able to find these new visitors by following the trail.

Children will be able to spot fairy displays at several locations through the high street until they reach the destination of the fairy kingdom at the recreation ground.

Here you can find the lead fairy, Willow, who looks after everyone and the newly-installed willow den.

The bespoke tiny doors have been made by a team of volunteers from the Medway Clay Community (MCC).

Stories about the fairies have also been written by writer, Elizabeth Turner, and illustrated by artist, Lorraine Marley.

Businesses have volunteered to become locations along the trail and are enjoying adding a sense of magic.

Kayleigh Ward, of Friends of Rainham Recreation Ground, said: "We are so excited to have the fairies visiting.

"Since the group formed, we’ve been desperate to instil a little magic for the children in the park.

"The local businesses have been very supportive, and it’s been wonderful seeing the community come together."

Homley’s Gifts, Rainham Community Library, Millennium Centre, Nutmegs Patissery, Just Cuts Butchers, Hales and Moore, Cobbler Elf, Tick Tocks and Sewing Shop are all shops involved.

Rosie founded MCC last summer.

She said: "I started as a way to connect people through clay and creativity.

"When I was asked to make fairy doors for a fairy trail, I jumped at the chance, I enjoy anything creative and outdoorsy so this was perfect.

"I've lived in Rainham a while and love it here, this is just something else that's going to bring the community together and enable children and families to explore, imagine and talk about something new."

The trail will be launched on the @friendsrainhamrec Facebook page on March 28 at 6pm with the story of the fairies being read out by the author.
