A fast food giant has closed the doors of one of its restaurants.
Burger chain Wimpy has waved goodbye to its branch in Chatham High Street.
A spokesman for the company said: “Wimpy Chatham is now closed.
“We want to thank our valued customers for all their support over the years.
“Your nearest Wimpy is now in Strood.”
The branch had been in the town since 2016.
Its closure comes just over a year after Wimpy made a comeback in Tonbridge High Street after more than 40 years away.
The chain, the first to serve hamburger-based meals in the UK, was once the fast food restaurant of choice among many in the country.
It was founded in Indiana, USA, in 1934, but Wimpy didn’t arrive in this country until 1954 when the first Wimpy Bar opened at Lyon’s Corner House in London.
As well as Strood and Tonbridge, Wimpy’s remaining Kent branches are in Ashford, Maidstone, Dartford and Sittingbourne.
