A window fell a from the same apartment block as a pane of glass that killed coach driver Mick Ferris, it has emerged.
The 53-year-old, from Hoo, was outside the 27-storey Corniche tower in Vauxhall, when he was struck by what is believed to be a window pane which fell 250ft from the newly built block on Tuesday.
It has now been revealed there was a similar incident in August 2017.
During construction, by developer group St James, a window pane fell from the 17th floor.
Company spokesman Damon Poole said: “There was an incident at The Corniche in August 2017, during construction, where a casement window fell from the upper floor.
"No one was hurt.
"There was a full investigation instigated by St James after which the design was amended in accordance with the expert advice received.
“St James is continuing to assist the Metropolitan Police and the HSE with their ongoing enquiries and is carrying out its own investigation into yesterday’s incident.
“We extend our deepest sympathies to Mr Ferris’ family at this incredibly difficult time."
Mr Ferris was an avid West Ham fan and he received a tribute from the club.
The official statement said: "Everyone at West Ham United is shocked and saddened by the sudden and tragic death of Mick Ferris, a lifelong Hammers fan.
"Our thoughts at this time are with Mr Ferris’s family and friends."
His son Daniel earlier paid tribute.
