A man has been charged with assaulting a woman in the centre of Chatham.
Mark Toulson, 27, of Nares Road in Gillingham, was charged with assault and breach of a molestation order. He has been remanded in custody.
Officers were called out to the bus station in Globe Lane yesterday after witnesses said they saw a man allegedly attacking the woman at about 11.30am.
More than an hour after the incident four police cars and an ambulance were still at the location - just yards from where families were enjoying the sun in The Paddock.
The extent of her injuries is not yet known, but police said she was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital for treatment.
At about 3.30pm police revealed they had arrested a 27-year-old Gillingham man on suspicion of assault and breaching a non-molestation order.
A spokesman for police said: "He is currently in police custody."
