Woman cut from BMW after crash

A woman had to be cut out of her car by firefighters after a crash in Chatham.

Firefighters were called to Walderslade Road after two cars collided close to the junction with Chestnut Avenue on Wednesday evening.

The woman, who was driving a soft-top BMW, suffered neck pain in the crash, which also involved a taxi shortly before 8pm.

A crew from Medway fire station used specialist equipment to free the woman from the vehicle.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service, said: "As a precaution, we cut the soft-top roof off and lifted the woman out on a longboard with paramedics as she was complaining of pains in her neck.

"The road didn't have to be closed and police diverted the traffic around the crash scene.

"She was then taken to hospital via ambulance and we left the scene after about 40 minutes."
