A woman has been detained under the Mental Health Act after an elderly person's body was found at a house.
She has been handed into the care of medical professionals following the discovery in Birch Grove, Hempstead near Gillingham.
The cause of death currently remains unexplained and a post-mortem examination will take place later this week.
Forensic teams and police officers were called to the street at around 12.50pm on Saturday.
The deceased woman, who is believed to have lived at the address for several years, was declared dead at the scene.
It is not yet known how old the detained person is and what the relationship between the two was.
Neighbours saw several police cars and a van outside the semi-detached property at around 12.30pm.
Over the weekend, rubbish could be seen piled up in the porch and a silver Mercedes hatchback was parked in the drive next to an overgrown garden.
A dad living a few doors down noticed forensic teams outside the property.
Chris Searle didn't know the lady personally but thought she "lived alone".
The 34-year-old said: "She was an oldish lady who kept herself to herself. I only went there to pick up parcels. We never really saw her coming or going."
Sepaking on Sunday, another neighbour, Lauren, said she had not seen the lady in "around eight years".
She said: "Forensics were here until 9.20pm, up until the body was removed.
"It's very sad to see something like this happen so close to home..."
"After that, the scene was manned by some PCs until the early hours of this morning.
