Chatham man arrested on suspicion of drink driving following crash on Walderslade Road

A woman has been taken to the hospital and a man arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after a car overturned in a two-vehicle crash.

The emergency services were called to the incident in Walderslade Road, Chatham, just after 11pm yesterday (July 14).

Pictures and video taken from the scene show one car had flipped on its roof and was severely damaged, with debris scattered across the street.

A cordon was put in place around the black vehicle while crews worked at the scene.

A witness who saw the aftermath, at the crossing lights near St Thomas More RC Primary School, said it looked like “quite a big crash”.

Police officers, paramedics and fire crews were all in attendance.

A woman suffered injuries in the incident and was treated at the scene before being taken to Medway Maritime Hospital.

A 23-year-old man from Chatham was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and taken into custody.
