Woman raped after being grabbed by gang

THIS is the face of one of the men suspected of the brutal rape of a young mother as she walked home from Chatham town centre. He and another man subjected the defenceless 22-year-old mother of three to a sickening sex attack in garages in Hare Street in Chatham.

Ironically the woman was making her way back to her young family after walking a friend home to make sure she was safe. The thugs were among a group of six men who pounced on her from behind, grabbing her and taunting her with the words:"Do you want some fun?"

The other four men walked away, leaving her in the hands of the the two attackers.

Det Sgt Dave West, leading the hunt, is pleading with the rest of the gang to come forward and help in what he describes as a "despicable" crime. He said: "They know who these men are. These men cannot shield anyone capable of these appalling, serious assaults."

The woman struggled back to her home where she raised the alarm after the attack last Wednesday at about 6pm. The first attacker was white, in his early 20s, 6ft tall with brown spiky hair. He had a long face and a scar on his right cheek. He wore jeans and white trainers.

The second man was white, in his early 20s, 5ft 6ins tall and of tubby-build. He wore a padded jacket, Reebok training bottoms and a sleeper earring in his right ear.

Anyone with information should contact Det Sgt West on 01634 884071 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111. Calls will be treated in confidence.
