A robber threatened a woman with a broken bottle before snatching her handbag and running away.

Detectives have launched and investigation and are appealing for witnesses after the woman was robbed shortly before 11pm on Tuesday.

The thief approached the woman near the Clover Street car park in Best Street, Chatham.

He then grabbed her bag and threatened her with the bottle before running away in the direction of The Brook.

The woman did not suffer any injuries. The suspect is white, about 25, 5ft 9ins and of slim build.

He was clean shaven and wore a grey hooded top with a black baseball cap and black trousers.
