Rochester woman left shocked after discovering ‘massive’ seven-inch McCain crinkle chip after buying bag from Asda in Chatham

A woman was given food for thought while eating dinner and watching the news - when she discovered a “massive” seven-inch chip on her plate.

Abi, from Rochester, says a report on the TV about the US President was trumped by the sight of the monster fry.

The 23-year-old had just finished a shift at her cosmetics company when she came home for dinner on Tuesday night.

But she had barely begun tucking into her fish fingers and McCain crinkle chips - which she had bought from Asda in Chatham - when she realised one item stood out from the rest.

Abi said: “I finished work a bit later so was the only person eating but was sat with my dad.

“We were watching the six o’clock news on catch-up and there was a story on about Donald Trump.

“It sounds funny, but I was shocked when I saw it and showed my brother as soon as he came downstairs and I sent a picture to my boyfriend straightaway.

“When I saw it on my plate, I got my brother to get the tape measure out.

“Everyone just said ‘That’s a massive chip’ and when we measured it, it was seven inches.

“If it didn’t have crinkles I think it would actually be even bigger.”

Abi, who lives just off Rochester high street, told KentOnline she saved the chip till last so she could show her mum when she came home from work.

She added: “I ate it in the end, but not all of it. It was so big I couldn’t finish it, so I gave it to the foxes.”

A nine-inch chip discovered by a boy in Pontypool, Wales, in 2023 is believed to be the world’s longest.

It came from an Asda packet of 'crispy homestyle chips'.
