Northfleet woman jailed after spate of thefts at Boots, Tesco and B&M in Gravesend and Medway

A woman who stole more than £1k worth of beauty products and groceries from Boots, Tesco and B&M has been jailed for less than 60 days.

Gabriella Tokorova, of Cygnet Gardens, Northfleet was charged with seven thefts from several shops across Medway and Gravesend.

Police received reports that between Thursday, August 24, and Saturday, November 11, beauty products and other items were stolen on four occasions from Boots in The Pentagon shopping centre, Chatham.

During this period, two thefts of meat, cheese and laundry products were also committed at Tesco in New Road, Gravesend and further laundry products were stolen at B&M in Medway Street, Chatham.

The total value of the stolen items exceeded £1,400.

On 11 November Tokorova was arrested in Chatham High Street and taken into custody.

She pleaded guilty at her first hearing before Medway Magistrates’ Court, on Monday, November 13.

The 24-year-old was immediately sentenced to 56 days’ imprisonment.

District Commander for Medway, chief inspector Trevor Jenner, said: “Our officers are determined to protect businesses from those criminals who commit multiple thefts believing they are unlikely to be detained.

“We work closely with shopkeepers and security staff and will strive to identify those responsible for retail crime and bring them to justice at the earliest opportunity.”
