A half naked pervert tried to rape a stranger in a street at night after drinking and taking drugs, a court heard.
Wearing just a T-shirt, George Totorov accosted the woman in the early hours and demanded sex from her.
The 38-year-old Bulgarian at one point pushed the terrified victim up against some railings and told her: “I am very aroused and I just want to ---- you a little bit.”
Totorov even continued with the attack when the woman fled to a garage forecourt in Rochester and pleaded with the cashier for help.
A group of men eventually went to her aid and Totorov was arrested soon afterwards.
Jailing the married father for three years, a judge told him: “It is clear you wanted to rape her. It is clear you were prepared to use violence.
"It is clear that but for members of the public intervening, you may have had your wish.”
The case was described as “bizarre” and Totorov was said to be devastated as he had no memory of what happened.
His lawyer Lucy Luttman said did not normally drink alcohol or take drugs, but that night he downed vodka and was offered something to smoke.
“It is completely and utterly out of character for him,” said Miss Luttman.
“He is not a sexual predator. He is not a violent man. He is a thoroughly decent citizen.”
Maidstone Crown Court was told the victim – who also happened to be Bulgarian - had left Rochester station on July 2 and was walking towards Montford Road when she was aware of footsteps behind her.
“She saw the defendant, who was only wearing a T-shirt,” said prosecutor Martin Yale.
“He was not wearing anything below – no trousers, no underwear.
“As she was about to go, he grabbed her arm and told her to wait.
"She froze – not just because she had been grabbed but she was slightly surprised he spoke in her language and they were not known to each other.
“She felt uncomfortable to look at him as he was naked from the waist down.
"She tried to push him away. He pushed her into some railings.”
After telling her what he wanted to do to her, she asked if he wanted to speak in Bulgarian, and he said he did. She then told him to leave her alone.
As he pushed her against the railings she held her handbag in front of her for protection. She managed to push him away.
She headed for the petrol station and Totorov followed and tried to grab her again.
He told her: “I know you are not real but I am going to ---- you.”
She saw another woman and asked her to call the police.
“The defendant told her to stay, saying if she would not let him do it to her, she should help him do it to the other girl,” said Mr Yale.
“She said he was crazy and she was ashamed they were both Bulgarians. He began pulling the other girl.”
While the victim was at the petrol station asking for help, Totorov grabbed her hair and pushed her against a wall.
He tried to pull her jeans down, threatening: “If you are not willing to do it this way, I am going to force you.”
A group of men heard her screams and went to help her. They pulled Totorov off and he fled. The woman was crying and in shock.
Police officers found Totorov in the car park at Rochester station. He was still half naked and drunk.
He told officers he had drunk vodka, smoked weed and taken cocaine.
After his arrest, he kept touching himself indecently and was warned he would be handcuffed if he did not stop.
"It is clear you wanted to rape her... you were prepared to use violence... but for members of the public intervening, you may have had your wish" - judge Philip St John-Stevens
The victim told in a statement of feeing humiliated and said she could not believe what had happened.
She added she had moved away from the area because she did not feel safe.
Totorov, who has no previous convictions, admitted attempted rape.
Miss Luttman told Judge Philip St John-Stevens: “On any interpretation, the facts of this case are strange and unusual.
"The defendant has absolutely no memory of this occurring.
“If it had not been so terrifying for the complainant, it would have been almost comical to read of a grown man walking around wearing just a T-shirt on a garage forecourt.”
Passing sentence, the judge said: “You chose to drink alcohol and take those drugs.
"What is clear is the effect of your crime on the victim.
“You made it clear you were prepared to use violence in order to have intercourse with her.
"Clearly, you are remorseful. This was a frightening incident.”
Miss Luttman said Totorov, whose name will appear on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely, came to the UK four years ago and worked hard to support his family in Bulgaria.
He led “a thoroughly decent life”.
“It is difficult for him to admit what he has done,” said Miss Luttman.
“He is yet to tell his partner he is in prison. He is struggling hard to appreciate the man seen on CCTV is him.
“He is beyond remorseful. Every time I have seen him he has been in tears.
"It clearly wasn’t the behaviour of a rational person. Some of the things he said were quite bizarre. His behaviour was bizarre.”
Miss Luttman said Totorov would now lose his job and accommodation.
“He has lost the respect he had for himself,” she added.
“He has shamed himself and his family. He wants to apologise to the complainant. He didn’t mean to frighten her.”
Miss Luttman submitted a suspended sentence was "not completely unrealistic".
