Women believed to have been victims of sexual exploitation were rescued from a suspected brothel being run in a Kent town.
Police raided the property in Gillingham in the early hours of Friday morning.
Two women inside the building in Duncan Road were found and specialist officers were brought in to make sure they were looked after and protected.
A warrant was executed at the property in Gillingham at the same time as another raid carried out a house in Sydenham, south east London.
Two people – a 44-year-old woman and 42-year-old man – were arrested on suspicion of keeping a brothel.
The pair have since been released from custody but remain under investigation, a police spokesman said.
Insp Simon Fullagar of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate said: "Sexual exploitation is a form of modern slavery that destroys lives, which is why tackling those responsible and safeguarding victims is a priority for Kent Police.
"A brothel can open anywhere at any time and be operated by criminals who think nothing of putting some of the most vulnerable members of our community at risk of serious harm."
Police have urged the public to report concerns or suspicions of a brothel being run near them here or by calling Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111
