A woman got an unexpected side order of vermin when she was served her burger in a Wetherspoon pub.
Dawn Gardiner hit out at The Thomas Waghorn Pub, in Railway Street, Chatham, after spotting a mouse scuttling across the carpet.
She posted a video on Facebook of the mouse on Thursday, with the comment: "Little extra with our dinner tonight and when I told the staff they were rude.
"I mean you don't expect mice with your burger!"
One shocked Facebook user said: "Omg, that's terrible, they must have an infestation if there was more than one, they need to be shut down and fumigated."
Another added: "Jesus Christ. Not acceptable."
Mrs Gardiner told Kent Online: "I only saw one at a time but my husband saw four of them when I went down to the bar.
"It took 40 minutes for them to clear the upstairs and that was only because I mentioned it again when I went to the bar.
"I wasn't too worried and I understand old buildings will sometimes have this."
"But the fact that they took so long to do anything made me think as soon as I have left they would re-open the upstairs."
She also confirmed she would not be returning to the pub.
Mrs Gardiner wrote to Wetherspoon to complain and reported the mouse to Medway Council's environmental health service.
The pub was visited today by an officer from Medway Council's environmental health team.
He confirmed steps had been taken to remove the mice and reported he saw "no signs of pests."
Wetherspoon spokesman Eddie Gershon said: “We are aware that mice have been spotted in the pub.
“We believe it could be as a result of building work next door to the pub. We have taken measures to ensure this doesn’t happen again.
“The council’s environmental health inspector has visited the pub and noted that measures have been taken and no additional pests have been spotted.
“We will remain vigilant of the situation.”
