Medway's would-be stars have been trying to show they've got the X Factor.

Dozens of budding performers have been queuing on Chatham High Street from early on Saturday to test their vocal chords and be in with a chance to appear on the hit TV show.

A crew has been hunting for talent with the first in a series of mobile auditions across the country.

The X Factor judges begin touring the country later in the spring.

Louis Walsh and Gary Barlow have already been announced for this year's judging line-up, with the rest of the panel expected to be announced this month.

Performers, who waited outside Primark, sang a verse and a chorus in front of a producer, who then gives them a yes or a no.

If it's a yes, they get invited to come back later in the day for another performance.

The first two to try their luck were Rainham Mark pupils Rachel Gunstone and Molly Williams, both 18.

The pair started queuing at 8am, and it was bad news for them both as they received a 'no'.

Miss Gunstone performed Skinny Love by Birdy, while Miss Williams sang Rhianna's We Found Love.

Miss Gunstone said: "It was nerve-racking, but it didn't seem to go too badly. They said no because I was too young, but I can always try next year."
