X Factor runner-up Amelia Lily
by Rebecca Hughes
Pop star Amelia Lily proved she had the X Factor when she performed to a packed out audience in Chatham today.
The former X Factor contestant brought joy to Walderslade Girls School as she stopped in on a whistlestop UK tour to promote her new single Party Over.
The 18-year-old sung her three singles, including the top 10 hits You Bring Me Joy and Shut Up, before holding a question and answer session with pupils.
She told them: “I went to an all girls’ school - I feel like I’m back at home.
“I was never the cleverest in school. I was always a little bit slower than everyone else, but I was good at the creative things like music – I got an A* in that. You need to work hard, but have fun as well. Don’t work too much and stress yourself out.”
Rachel Gerring, 17, who was in the audience said: “I love her. She was really friendly. To have someone who is famous at the school was a massive thing.
"I thought she was really good and I watched her when she was on X Factor. I even voted for her.”
Sixth-former Matt Attridge, 18, from Walderslade, added: “I’m a huge fan because she is such a normal person and she is our age.
“At first when they said she was coming I thought it was pretty strange, but quite cool. It was really good and she was really funny. I even got a wave from her.”
