X Factor singer hoping to reach for the stars

MATTHEW Crane from High Halstow has made it through to X Factor boot camp.

The 14-year-old joined dozens of others who made it through to the next round at a hotel in Oxford.

Matthew had to perform in front of the judges once again but he was unable to reveal if his success in the show will continue.

The Gad’s Hill School pupil already impressed the judges when he attended the London auditions, despite being one of the youngest to turn up.

Matthew performed You Raise Me Up, a number one hit for Irish boy band Westlife in 2005.

Judge Brian Friedman said Matthew had a very mature voice and asked him to sing a second song. Matthew responded with a rendition of Nessun Dorma.

Matthew’s mum Shirleyanne Williams said: “X Factor is the one thing Matthew has always wanted to do. He has always wanted to get Simon Cowell’s opinion, and he was thrilled to get his approval.”

Matthew, the UK’s youngest baritone, has sung for Jordan and Peter Andre and performed alongside G4 and Welsh soprano star Katherine Jenkins.
