Bosses at a popular pumpkin-picking site have promised customers refunds after they were forced to close the site because of a burst water main.
PYO Pumpkins, in Hoo, had hoped to open today despite its entrance being flooded following the rupture of a 16-inch pipe this morning.
But hours after sharing news of the incident this morning, bosses have taken the decision to close for the day, and warned people booked to visit over the next week to "please check your email before leaving".
They had first posted about the flooding at 8.40am, saying they would provide an update after Southern Water had turned off the main.
But at just before 11am they said a decision had been made to shut for today, adding: "If you have tickets for Monday or the rest of the week please check your email before leaving. We will be offering full refunds or ticket movement in due course."
Just over an hour later they provided another update, saying Southern Water workers had arrived and switched off the main.
They added: "We have had several comments saying it’s just the rain!, our own fault, the irrigation has gone, but in fact it is the 16 inch water main!
"You will get your refunds but please bear with us. This many may take 48hrs as we want to speak to our ticketing partners to find the best option for a mass refund. Your patience is much appreciated."
Commenters had earlier expressed their sympathy, with one writing: "Not what you need a week before Halloween! Hope it’s sorted quickly."
Another posted: "What a nightmare. Not what you need at all."
