A Strood youngster’s dreams came true when he was able to meet one of his favourite WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) wrestling stars.
Tommie Farrow, eight, was overcome with emotion when his mum Hannah and stepdad, Daryl Raisey, took him to London’s 02 Arena.
Little did he know his wish to meet a star had been granted by the Rays of Sunshine charity.
But his parents decided to keep it as a surprise until he arrived at the Greenwich venue.
The Hilltop Primary School pupil has not had the easiest start in life having been born with three congenital heart defects.
Ms Farrow was told by doctors Tommie wouldn’t survive and he had to undergo three major open-heart surgery procedures.
But against all odds, he pulled though and came out of hospital a fighter.
However, a year ago the couple’s lives were again shattered when Tommie became seriously ill.
Ms Farrow, 26, said: “Around this time last year, the most horrid thing happened.
“Tommie was 48 hours from dying when he had a seizure and then contracted meningitis, which led to him having a abscess imbedded in his brain.
“He then had to undergo emergency surgery at Great Ormond Street Hospital and spent the next three months fighting for his life.”
Thankfully, Tommie pulled through and his parents thought he deserved a treat and applied to the charity to see if it could grant him a wish.
Ms Farrow added: “He knew we had asked for his wish to be granted.
“He had to pick three wishes, that’s how it works.
“He had asked to become a zoo-keeper, take a trip over London in a helicopter and meet WWE wrestling star, John Cena.
“It was last year when we filled the forms in and he knew what wishes he wanted, but had forgotten all about it.

“We kept it a secret and then we took him to the WWE Raw at the 02 last month and he was so excited when we told him he was going to meet Roman Reigns.
“John Cena was not in London but Tommie didn’t mind.
“It was great to meet Roman and he was amazing, he spent about 30 minutes with the children, Tommie was so excited.
“He signed autographs and posed for photos and we put the video up on my Facebook of Tommie’s reaction to hearing the news he was going to meet Roman and it was watched about 2,000 times.
“He’s been telling all his classmates he’s famous now.
“Tommie’s an incredible little boy and he deserved the treat.”
