A: MEDWAY JUNIOR BADMINTON

The club has 175 registered juniors who are regularly playing badminton. Out of this number, more than 25 have turned out for Kent, while one player has gone on to represent England. Medway Junior Badminton is Clubmark accredited. Coaching takes place on Saturdays and families are encouraged to participate in social evenings.

C: MEDWAY NETBALL JUNIOR LEAGUE

For more than 20 years the league has provided coaching and playing opportunities for girls when the focus for junior sport has traditionally been mainly for boys. This year more than 200 girls have been playing in the league. All the coaches are qualified coaches or umpires.

D: MEDWAY ROLLER DANCE

The club, in existence since 1948, offers a clear progress route for Medway youngsters to learn the skills required to pass Federation of Artistic Roller Skating (FARS) basic grades and medal tests in roller dance, figure and free skating. More advanced skaters enter the FARS British Championships and some are chosen to represent Great Britain in international competitions. Clubmark status was achieved in September.

E: MERIDIAN GIRLS

This FA Charter Standard girls’ football club is an example of how a dedicated group of local people have provided the chance for a group of youngsters to express themselves in sport in a positive way. More than 120 girls regularly train and take part in league football. The club has also been involved in the Medway Schools’ mini youth games, offering free coaching.

F: RAINHAM EAGLES

The club, which has numerous teams running through from under-7s to men, was formed in 2001 and was the Kent FA Charter Standard club of the year for 2009. The club is committed to forging links with the community and regularly holds open days to introduce new players to the game with stewards on hand to answer questions. The teams have won various trophies from fair play to league and cup success.

*Medway Dragons have withdrawn from the Junior Club of the Year category. Anyone who voted for them who wants a refund should contact the sportsdesk on 01227 475910.
