Forgotten players who have left Gillingham and played for the likes of KAS Eupen, Dubai FC, Dunfermline Athletic and KV Oostende

Through the ups and downs of Gillingham’s history, fans have seen the coming and goings of many players whose names have been lost over time.

Here are 10 recent players that fans may have forgotten and where they are playing now.

Regan Charles Cook

Forward Charles-Cook played for Charlton under-21s, coming from Arsenal Youth. He spent loan spells at Solihull Moors and Woking before joining Gillingham on a free in 2018.

In two years at the club, the forward made 21 league starts and 20 appearances as a substitute, scoring six goals. He scored the only goal in a win at Accrington in the 2019/20 season.

In July 2020, Charles-Cook left on a free to Scottish side Ross Country, where he started 45 times and scored 13 goals. Two years later, the Grenadian switched over to Belgium to play for KAS Eupen, playing 32 games last season and netting four goals.

Henry Woods

Academy graduate Woods played 13 times for Gillingham between 2018-21. The midfielder spent time on loan at clubs including Sittingbourne, Dover and Concord. Maidstone signed Woods in 2022 on a free but he played only four games and then signed for Dubai FC in January 2024.

Hagi Mnoga

Right-back Mnoga came on loan from Portsmouth in September 2022 after time at Bromley and Weymouth. On his debut at home to Swindon, Mnoga was sent off for two yellow cards after just 10 minutes.

He only appeared four times thereafter. After two loan moves to Aldershot, where he scored three goals, the 22-year-old left Pompey in May and was recently reported to be on trial at League 2 Notts County but remains without a club.

Alex Jakubiak

Centre-forward Jakubiak moved up the ranks at Watford yet only featured once for the senior side. He has had a total of 13 different clubs by the age of 27. In 248 appearances for clubs such as Dundee, Bristol Rovers and Oxford United, the Scot scored 42 goals.

In July 2019, Jakubiak joined Gillingham on loan from Watford under-23s and made 30 appearances. Against Blackpool at home, he scored a brace in a game which finished 2-2.

After returning to Watford, he joined Dundee on a free and after a loan spell at Partick Thistle, he signed for Dunfermline Athletic but was released at the end of last season.

Josh Parker

Parker started his career at QPR in 2009, and featured for the likes of Wycombe, Northampton and AFC Wimbledon.

His career took a bizarre twist when he was released by Oxford in 2013 as he then joined Slovenian side Domzale. After having an impressive time abroad in which he had 24 goals and assists in 50 games, Red Star Belgrade signed the forward.

In the 2015/16 season, he became a Serbian champion with the club.

In 2017, Parker joined Gillingham from Wealdstone. His most memorable moment was scoring twice at Rotherham in a 3-1 win for the Gills.

The 33-year-old now plays for Oxford City, scoring 14 goals in 39 appearances as they were relegated from the National League last season.

Zech Medley

Left-footed centre-half Medley started out at Chelsea youth, joining Arsenal in 2017. Medley was previously a student at Gillingham-based The Howard School and joined the Gills in 2021.

Playing 18 games in total, he kept three clean sheets and was dropped from the squad after featuring on the bench against Accrington at home.

At the end of his loan, he was sold by Arsenal for £150,000 to Belgium side KV Oostende. In July 2024, he returned to England and is under contract until 2026 with Fleetwood.

Tristian Abrahams

Centre-forward Abrahams started his career at Leyton Orient before being sold in 2017 to Norwich for £270,000 when he was 18. However, he never broke into the senior squad and spent time on loan to Exeter and Yeovil.

Abrahams joined Gillingham in 2023 on loan from Eastleigh and played 12 games. He recorded his only goal involvement when he came off the bench to assist Shaun Williams’ goal against Carlisle in Gillingham’s 1-0 victory.

Being released by Eastleigh at the end of the 2023 season, Abrahams played for Welling before joining Maidenhead in February 2024 where he netted three times in 11 outings.

Josh Eccles

Midfielder Eccles has only been at two clubs including Coventry and Gillingham. Eccles played 14 games for Gillingham when he joined on loan for the 2020/21 season. He featured 51 times for Coventry last season as they fell short of reaching the Championship play-off places.

Paulo Gazzaniga

Goalkeeper Gazzaniga played for Valencia under-19s prior to joining Gillingham. The Argentinian was between the sticks for 22 games in the 2011/12 season and kept eight clean sheets.

In July 2012, he was sold to Southampton for an undisclosed fee. Gazzaniga went on to join Spurs and Fulham before ending up back in Spain at Girona. After beating Barcelona twice, Girona had an incredible 2023/24 season to finish third.

Gazzaniga played a part in their success, boasting an impressive 12 clean sheets.

Robbie Cundy

Defender Cundy worked up through the youth sides of Oxford United and Aston Villa. In his career, Cundy played for Oxford City, Torquay and Bristol City, where he was loaned out from in 2021.

In 18 games for the club, Cundy got one goal and one and had four clean sheets. After leaving Bristol City, he joined Barnsley and has most recently joined Notts County in July 2024.
