Lordswood have vowed to support Carl Harrold after the defender suffered an injury which will stop him working for the forseeable future.

Harrold, a self-employed scaffolder, snapped his collar bone during Saturday’s draw with Punjab United in the Southern Counties East League.

He may need an operation and certainly won’t be back on the football pitch or building site any time soon.

Lordswood manager Richard Styles said: “He’s going to be out for some time so the boys are going to do stuff for him.

“There will be a funding page set up that the club will run for him and his family. We’’ll do everything we can to make sure he gets through this period.

“Carl’s a tough lad. He’s strong and he’ll be absolutely fine. He’s got our support and he knows we’ll get him back to his best.

“These players aren’t professional and they work hard Monday to Friday.

“I’m asking a lot of them at weekends and some evenings so it’s a credit to these boys on the non-league football scene.

“Carl’s been with us a long time, he’s a great lad and he’s well-respected in the squad. He’s one of our own and we’ll make sure we support him.”
