Borstal hosted the touring Wanderers side from Barbados on Tuesday afternoon.

The Caribbean side have produced a host of high-calibre cricketers over the years, including current West Indies captain Jason Holder and they showed their class at the Brambletrees ground.

Royston Williams was the tourists’ star batsman on the day, hitting 53 off 22 balls, until he was caught by Charlie Tippett. His innings included seven fours and a couple of sixes.

Wanderers played two games, against Borstal’s under-15s and under-17s, winning both.

Fixture secretary Lee Round said: “They taught our boys a good lesson in bowling and batting.

“Our under-15s and under-17s are Medway champions, the best in Medway but they were both soundly beaten by two strong teams. Royston Williams looked a cracking batsman, hitting some good full-length balls for fours.

“He was tremendous and the standout performer of the day.”

Some of the Borstal players were also able to show their class. Andrew Boye hit a couple of sixes as he scored 43 for the under-17s while Thomas Miles scored 34 for the under-15s.

Round added: “It was a good day. We had lovely weather and it was played in the right
spirit.

“It was great to have hosted the Wanderers and for them to come to Borstal where we have some exciting boys and girls of our own coming through playing district level
cricket.”
