Bradley Dack’s departure from Gillingham appears imminent.
The 23-year-old has been targeted by League 1 newcomers Blackburn Rovers.
Gillingham are set to finally cash in on their prize asset, expecting to receive around £500,000 for the goalscoring midfielder.
Add-ons could take the final figure past the £1m mark.
Last week Gills head coach Ady Pennock said the club wouldn't stand in Dack's way if the right deal was received, amid speculation from a number of teams.
Dack hasn’t travelled to Northern Ireland, where the Gills are taking part in a pre-season training camp.
Blackburn were relegated from the Championship last season and are working on a number of deals, with their manager Tony Mowbray targeting a promotion challenge.
Mowbray was in charge of Coventry City during Dack’s best season, when he was named League 1 player-of-the-year in 2016. Dack scored against Coventry that season, as he netted 15 goals.
It was form that almost led to a move to Championship Bristol City, but the Gills refused to sell.
But with a year left on his contract it appears Gillingham have finally decided to let their star man go.
Fellow Gills midfielder Billy Knott, who has also stayed behind, is still interesting League 2 newcomers Lincoln City, who had him on loan last season.
