Mark Byrne believes that Gillingham will be too good for Bristol Rovers in midweek if they can replicate their weekend performance.
The Gills were beaten 3-1 by Luton on Saturday but had their moments in the game.
“I think at times we matched them all over the park,” said the Gills midfielder.
“You could see they are a clinical side and they tucked their chances away. They are a free-scoring team and that was the difference.
“Tuesday is massive and confidence is not that bad. The gaffer said we matched them for most of the game and played some nice football, particularly second half.
“DJ (Oldaker) did very well when he came on, he got on the ball and got us ticking and the boys aren’t too downbeat.
"They (Rovers) are a team in and around us and we need to get three points.
“If we perform mostly like we did on Saturday then we will go there and win. It is going to be a tough game but we’ll go there full of confidence to try and get the win.”
The game against Luton came after a Wednesday night trip to Hartlepool in the FA Cup, winning after extra-time.
Byrne said he felt good, despite the extra efforts needed.
He said: “There might have been a few (that were tired) but me, personally, I wasn’t too bad. I got the legs going in training on Friday and I felt all right.
“They (Luton) were holding on (at the end) and their manager was trying to get them to slow the game down.
“We had a bit of momentum, and had we scored a goal then it might have been a tense few minutes for them but they took their chances and were quite clinical.
“Eaves took his chance very well (to reduce the score to 3-1) but we ran out of time towards the end.”
