Chatham Town manager Kevin Watson to freshen up his side for visit of Barkingside

Kevin Watson says he will make changes to his Chatham side for Saturday's visit of Barkingside.

Chatham won their Ryman League Division 1 North opener 1-0 at Ware, but lost 2-1 at home to Thurrock on Tuesday night.

Newly-promoted Barkingside, however, were thrashed 8-3 by Harlow in midweek.

Chats boss Watson said of the Essex side's heavy defeat: “I’m not reading too much into that. If anything, they’ll be looking to bite back and there will probably be a reaction from them, so we have to be careful.

“I don’t tend to look at results too much (at this stage of the season) because some teams that won on Tuesday didn’t win their first game.”

Watson has no fresh injury concerns but he said: “There will be a couple of changes on Saturday because I’ve got a good squad.

“I want to freshen it up a little bit. When you’re playing two games a week, sometimes people get tired.”

Alim Seesay (hamstring) and Spencer Sachies (knee) are still two weeks away from full fitness and will not feature against Barkingside.
