Gillingham striker Cody McDonald hoping to score another goal against Bradford City

Striker Cody McDonald has been the scourge of Bradford in recent years and he’ll be hoping to inflict a little more pain on them this weekend.
He equalised in the 1-1 draw at Valley Parade last year and the season before, he scored the only goal in a 1-0 win to leave 10,000 Yorkshiremen unhappy.
And after scoring Gillingham’s 98th-minute winner last Saturday, in the thrilling 3-2 win over Leyton Orient, he’s hoping to have put some inconsistent form behind him.
“Hopefully, that goal on Saturday will have given me the confidence I needed,” said the striker, who had been dropped to the bench.
“The manager made a decision and I respected it. He told me Friday, so I knew (I wouldn’t be starting).
“I would rather know before a game but I didn’t prepare any differently. I prepared as if I was starting and still ready to come on at any time.
“Thankfully, when I did go on it made a difference. My form hasn’t been good of late, I criticise myself a lot.
“I am honest and know I haven’t been playing that great but I am working hard on the training ground and maybe that’s the little kick up the backside I need."
McDonald certainly made an impact off the bench. With virtually the last kick of the game, he volleyed home in front of the Rainham End for his sixth goal of the season.
He said: “I knew it was the winner. The referee had already said that was it (for time). It was a great feeling on a personal note but most importantly for the lads and the supporters."
