Last weekend’s defeat to Burton hasn’t knocked any of Gillingham’s confidence, says defender John Egan.

A 3-0 home loss was a blow to the Gills but Irishman Egan is keen to move on.

He said: “It was disheartening and we were down because all week leading up to the game. I felt we were in good shape and could get a positive result.

“Like every defeat, you feel bad but you need to put it to one side.

“You win some, you lose some but if we can learn from it and deal with it and put it right this weekend, then that’s what we’re looking to do.

“It hasn’t knocked my confidence one bit. It’s football, you can lose a game and you can win a game. When you lose you learn more about yourself and the team and you get better.

“When you are winning everything is A-OK and you’re flying but when you lose you learn what you’ve done wrong you think about it a bit more.

“From what I’ve seen in training, it doesn’t look like it has hurt the lads. Everyone was buzzing around and if we can put that to one side and get over it quickly, that is the way to be. We’ll put the disappointment to one side and go again.

“My attitude hasn’t changed. I am still fearless and don’t care who I am playing against. We can beat anyone in this league and hopefully we can go to Millwall, get our performance right and get something from the game."
