Strood cruiserweight Louie Darlin silenced his opponent at York Hall last Saturday to take his record to 2-0.

Lancashire’s Paul Morris made all the noise before the fight but the Medway boxer delivered some punishing blows to keep him quiet in the ring.

Darlin, 25, admitted he was disappointed not to have landed a knock-out punch but is willing to be patient.

“It’s all about learning at this stage but I am gutted I never stopped him,” said the former unlicensed world champion.

“Things like that will come and it’s just a matter or waiting.”

The four-round contest in Bethnal Green last weekend wasn’t always pretty and Darlin ended the contest sporting a black eye for his troubles.

“He was holding and he caught me with a head butt to give me the black eye but luckily I didn’t cut,” said the Medway man.

“There was a lot of holding from him and he was catching me with low blows but these things are all part of the learning process.

“I caught him with a walloping right hand in the third and he nearly went down and I also landed a good left hook.

“Afterwards he had some nice things to say, which was good.”
