Callum Davies could be heading back out of Gillingham on a long-term loan.

Davies’ last two loan spells have not gone well and he can only make one more loan move this season.

With that in mind, Gills boss Justin Edinburgh is making sure the next move is the right one.

Edinburgh said: “He can only have three in a season and he can only do one more. It would have to be for the season or for three months and we have to be selective.

“It has been really unfortunate and I feel for the boy. We are in discussions with him and we have to be very selective to make sure it’s the right one.

“There are options but we don’t want to rush it because he can only have one more loan and we have to be cautious.”

Davies initially joined Bromley for a month but played just one game. His one appearance was in a 4-1 defeat at Grimsby.

The 22-year-old returned to Priestfield and left again for Eastleigh, who at the time were under the management of former Gills No.2 Richard Hill.

Davies made his debut in a 5-2 home defeat to Dover and Hill resigned after the match. The player returned to the Gills with just one more appearance under his belt.
