A second-round stoppage of stand-in opponent Jason Nesbitt further enhanced the reputation of Hoo’s Adam Dingsdale on Saturday night.

He was faced with a last-minute change of opponent at London’s York Hall but made light work of experienced Brummie Jason Nesbitt.

His record since turning pro less than two years ago now stands at eight wins, one controversial draw and no defeats.

Welterweight Nesbitt stood in for expected opponent Lee Connelly, who pulled out late on but weighed in a stone heavier than lightweight Dingsdale. Many have beaten Nesbitt but few have stopped him inside the distance.

Dingsdale finished him off in just two rounds –dislocating his opponent’s shoulder in the process.

“I boxed well and did everything right,” said the 25-year-old. “We both landed jabs at the same time and he turned away wincing in pain. The referee said carry on and I finished him off on the ropes."

The win further boosted Dingsdale’s ambitions to fight Liam Shinkwin for the Southern Area belt in September.

He said: “I’m fighting for a title next and that’s the one I want. Shinkwin is unbeaten and that’s the type of fight I want. I want to be tested and whoever I fight next, it will be a big step up for me."
