Gillingham boss Justin Edinburgh knows the fans deserve better.
And he’s hoping an Easter Monday trip to Leyton Orient can help eradicate the memories of another poor home display.
The Gills are back in action just three days after losing 1-0 to Fleetwood Town at Priestfield, a result that ended any late charge for the League 1 play-offs.
“People remember how you finish,” said Edinburgh, who is determined that Gillingham’s season won’t fizzle out.
“Fans are coming in their numbers and they deserve better. It’s as simple as that. We can’t hide from that, we can’t shirk our roles and responsibilities.
“Make no bones about it, in the last four games results haven’t been good enough at home. We need to do better.
“We have a few more home games and we need to finish strongly. When you come back for pre-season and the start of next season, you want to be finishing in good form, because that is what you will be taking into the following season.
“We are going to make sure that turns around. We have a few more games to do that and it’s back to the training ground trying to put that right.
"There is a lot still to play for here. I am getting close to assessing everyone and close to knowing decisions that are to be made.”
