The play-off chase is on says Gillingham boss Justin Edinburgh.
The club’s new manager guided them to a third successive win on Saturday against high-flying MK Dons.
And now the Gills – who a month ago were fighting against relegation – sit just two points off the League 1 play-off positions.
As many as a dozen sides still hope to gatecrash the play-off party in the coming months but the Gills are the division’s form team, and Edinburgh knows anything is possible.
He said: “You have to look at it (the play-off positions) and strive for it.
“We are in a good vein of form at the moment but if you take your eye off it then you can quickly be drawn back down towards the relegation positions.
“We are on a good run, we are enjoying winning football matches and we are very confident.
“We won’t get over-confident and we won’t lose sight that we have had to work immensely hard to get the victories that we have had over the last few games.”
Edinburgh has won back-to-back games since taking charge but admits he was wary of the good form the Gills were in when he arrived. They are now seven matches unbeaten.
He said: “I have to be honest, I thought I was on a bit of a hiding to nothing, certainly after the victory over Sheffield United, which was outstanding.
“You are going away (to Peterborough in his first game), which is always difficult, but as a manager it is always important to get a positive performance and hopefully results come with that.
“We have certainly had that in abundance with two fantastic results and I am absolutely delighted."
