Gillingham boss Steve Evans admitted he was concerned by the quick turnaround from the midweek win at Bristol Rovers.

He said: “I was really concerned at the start of the game. We played away at Bristol on Wednesday night and the team coach got back into Gillingham at something like 3am, the boys are tired and you are trying to recover them."

Evans said: "He is a handful whenever it goes into his area. He was probably a bit frustrated early part of the game but when he is on his game and you put it into him he is outstanding. He picks people out and he is a threat."

On-loan Arsenal youngster Coyle came off the bench and scored the second goal with 10 minutes left to give Gillingham some breathing space in a tough game at Priestfield.

“It is good to know that you can win when you are nowhere near as you should be, that’s a positive, but we definitely want to improve," admitted Coyle.
