Head coach Ady Pennock was delighted to see his side's confidence get another boost

A 2-1 win for the Gills over Championship side Ipswich Town was another step in the right direction for his new-look team.

“It was a hard game for us but we dealt with it well,” he said.

“The players want to learn and get things right and it is a good feel around the place, it is a good changing room, but let’s not get too carried away.

“We have come through with no injuries and that is the biggest thing for me.

“I am pleased with everyone’s attitude, I am not worried about the result to be honest, it does give you a bit of a confidence boost but I am not worried about any results, it is about how we do things and I thought our fitness levels were very good.”

“It was a lovely finish and the move was good as well, starting with Greg Cundle and it was a good little touch from him. We moved the ball very quickly and that’s what we have been working on in pre-season.

“It was a fantastic finish.”
