Gillingham have appointed a new director of operations.
Head of commercial Joe Comper will step up to the new role and be responsible for the club’s non-football operations.
Comper’s appointment plugs the gap left following Paul Fisher’s departure from the Gills. The club say he will concentrate on his remaining commercial objectives as he transitions to operations.
He described the appointment as “a real honour to be asked to play such a significant role at this club at what I believe is going to be a really exciting time.”
His promotion comes during a major restructuring of the club’s off-field staff since the takeover of the Gills by American businessman Brad Galinson.
Mr Galinson said: “The people who have got us this far have done an incredible job working collaboratively.
“No single person is responsible for the tremendous success we are experiencing - it has been a group effort.
“It takes all of us to build a winning organisation and Joe is just the right person to lead us into our next chapter of building an outstanding team on the pitch and in the office.
“The fact that we are promoting internally demonstrates the true quality inside this club, as well as our unequivocal trust in the leadership team. We are thrilled that Joe is joining us on this journey.”
Fans had previously quizzed the chairman over the involvement of previous owner Paul Scally, who remains part of the day to day activities.
Earlier this month, Mr Galinson tweeted: “Opinions are important. Keep them coming. But talk of Scally running the day to day is incorrect.
“Dept heads, with whom Shan & I are in daily contact, are running things.”
He added that it would be a “big summer on and off the pitch.”
The club are currently promoting their new digital LED advertising boards which are to be installed around Priestfield ahead of next season.
