Gillingham manager Neil Harris fears that midfielder Ben Reeves will miss the rest of the season following his Boxing Day injury.

Reeves was carried off early in the second half of Gills’ match against Colchester United, with a knee injury, before visiting player Matty Longstaff also left the field on a stretcher after he too slipped on the surface of the Priestfield pitch, causing what could be a bad injury.

"First guess is that it’s season over for Ben,” said Gills boss Harris. “The two lads who came off have got bad injuries and I wish them both really well, and a speedy recovery.”

The injury for Reeves came early in the second half of what was a poor Gills performance against fellow strugglers Colchester United. The away side won 1-0.

Gillingham were already missing striker Lewis Walker. He’s out following a bad tackle against him in the FA Cup game against Dagenham & Redbridge.

Harry Phipps was sent off for Dagenham after his high challenge on Walker which Harris says has put his striker “out for a period.”

Gillingham are already lacking numbers up top and will be an area Harris targets during the January transfer window.
