Amine Linganzi’s injury-plagued spell with Gillingham is over after the Gills agreed to mutually cancel the player’s contract.
Former Blackburn Rovers midfielder Linganzi made just 28 appearances for the Gills since signing in the summer of 2013.
Gillingham moved for Linganzi after promotion to League 1, on a two-year deal, following an impressive performance for Accrington against Martin Allen’s title-winning side.
But he failed to live up to that level at the Gills, with injuries hampering him throughout his stay.
New boss Justin Edinburgh had been unable to assess the player properly, as a hamstring injury was followed by a recent groin problem.
“There is no doubt he has had injury problems since he has been at the football club,” said Edinburgh.
“He has not really trained or played too much and if you haven’t got someone who is fit you can’t make a judgement on them.
“He has found it difficult to come to terms with the English game. I am sure the boy is disappointed that he hasn’t had a chance to be fit to play.”
