Championship side Millwall are keen to keep hold of John Marquis after a prolific spell at Gillingham on loan

Gillingham look set to have a fight on their hands if they want to keep hold of Saturday’s match-winner John Marquis for next season.
The on-loan striker scored the winner for the Gills against Bradford City at Priestfield, his eighth goal in 17 appearances.
But that form has prompted parent club Millwall to offer the 22-year-old a new deal.
The Championship side, who are fighting against relegation, were willing to let Marquis go under former boss Ian Holloway but since Neil Harris has taken over that stance has changed.
Boss Justin Edinburgh said: “It is difficult because he is not our player but there have been talks. I think Millwall have made him a new offer of a contract.
“When players like John Marquis come to the club and have the impact that he has, then you are going to be interested in him, there is no doubt about that.
“We have spoken to John on numerous occasions. He is comfortable here, has fitted into the group well and he has eight goals now. If there is something we can do then we are trying hard to do it.
"When you have someone on loan, if they have a spell like he is, it becomes a different equation.”
