Gillingham boss Justin Edinburgh bemoans the side's lack of cutting edge as they lose 1-0 to Fleetwood Town

Gills boss Justin Edinburgh was frustrated at his team’s lack of cutting edge against Fleetwood.
After a disappointing first half, the Gills saw more of the ball in the attacking third after the break, but failed to turn possession into goals.
“There wasn’t a lot in the game but again we’ve not managed to break a team down,” said Edinburgh.
“We had enough possession but didn’t have that cutting edge or self belief in the final third.
“We huffed and puffed but came up short and that was really frustrating because infront of a big crowd it was set up for us. We just haven’t been able to deliver again.”

The Gills had 17 attempts at goal, compared to Fleetwood’s nine, but visiting keeper Chris Maxwell didn’t have to exert himself until injury-time, with a diving save to deny Aaron Morris.
Edinburgh said: “They’ve (Fleetwood) thrown their bodies on the line but I didn’t think we’ve got that real killer instinct, or self belief, and I don’t know why.
“We’re on a good run, not as if we are struggling or losing every week, we have got goals in the team.
“We had the lion’s share of the possession and double figures of shots, lots of crosses going into the box, but I think falling behind to the goal we did it was an uphill task.”
Fleetwood’s 18 minute goal was enough to win the game. The Gills have now failed to win at home in their last four.
“We have gone behind in all four,” said the manager.
“Two of them we got back in but we have to be taking the initiative and making more of the possession and the opportunities.
“We have to be winning games at home and that has to be the disappointing factor when we look back at the end of the season. It was always going to be a tall order to make the play-offs but we haven’t taken enough points from those last four home games.”
