West Brom defender Bradley Garmston scored his first Football League goal for Gillingham against MK Dons

Gillingham’s loan defender Bradley Garmston dedicated his crucial goal on Saturday to his mum.
With the League 1 match against MK Dons poised at 2-2, and the visitors sensing a way back in, the on-loan West Brom full-back pulled the trigger with 15 minutes left.
John Marquis added a fourth six minutes later to seal the points.
“It was a brilliant feeling and that is my first league goal,” said the 21-year-old.
“To then also see John getting the fourth to see the game off was brilliant.
“My parents come to every game. They are my biggest fans and I thank them for everything they do. I dedicate that goal to my mum.”
Garmston’s parents have been travelling from Birmingham to watch every match since he joined the Gills.
His celebration after scoring was directed at them as they were sat towards the top of the Medway Stand.
The goal was an almost carbon-copy move of a chance that he put wide just a minute before.
“The first was like the rehearsal,” he said.
“But the second I thought, ‘yes, shoot again’. It was a great opportunity and I wanted to just hit it across because there were a few players in the box and anything could have happened. Lucky for me it went in.”
Saturday’s match was his last of the current loan deal but talks are ongoing with West Brom about extending it.
The young left-back is certainly having fun.
“We have been on a great run, especially the last six or seven games and since I have been here we haven’t lost a game,” he said.
“It has been a wonderful experience so far. The team has been fantastic and the manager is always complementing us on our attitude.
“It was another great result and we need to keep this up now until the end of the season.”
