Gills boss Justin Edinburgh got the finale he was looking for on Sunday.

Edinburgh’s men hit three goals in the final few minutes to turn around a one goal deficit and finish the season with a win over Notts County.

He said: “I was delighted, certainly first half, as open as it was I thought we used the ball very well and looked a threat.

“We knew that Notts would come at us and take risks but our mindset was to win the game and overall, it was a very entertaining game. There was a lot riding on it, a lot of emotion, but we certainly played our part in it.

“We were good in possession first half, certainly with the midfield trio of Aaron Morris, Loft and Dack. We were getting a real good foothold and the wings backs of McGlashan and Brennan were causing problems.

“We had good chances, but where Glenn Morris has had to make a save from a set-piece and then when we were caught on the counter-attack, that was my only concern. As good as we were with the turnover of possession, we were a little vulnerable.”

The Gills went a goal down on the hour as Notts County scored a goal which they hoped would keep them in League 1.

“I am disappointed with the manner of the goal,” said Edinburgh.

“The ball travelled a long distance and John Egan and Jermaine will be disappointed with the communication and their positioning. John goes and pops up with the equaliser and then we push on from there.”
