Gills assistant boss David Kerslake praised his team's second half display against Peterborough on Saturday.

The Gills had to come from behind to beat promotion rivals Posh, and the three points took them to the top of League 1.

"In the second half we were really on the front foot," said Kerslake, who saw Gills level just four minutes after half-time through Luke Norris.

"We could have been out of sight with 15 minutes to go.

"We made a couple of substitutions and in the second half we didn't give them time on the ball and pressed them a lot higher.

"We were outstanding and thought we were really good for the win."

The Gills replaced Bradley Garmston (hamstring) and Jake Hessenthaler (calf) at half-time, although Kerslake revealed that boss Justin Edinburgh was going to make the changes regardless of the injuries.

Reflecting on Gills' slow start to the game, Kerslake said: "They had a gameplan. In the first half I thought they were very good and had a lot of rotation in midfield.

"We knew they varied their set pieces and corners. If something comes off that works on the training ground then credit to them."

Gills had to hold on at the close, having blown two-goal leads in their previous two matches and Kerslake added: "We know we can hold out but you wouldn't have wanted it to happen again!"
