Gillingham aren’t short of options to fill the void left by suspended skipper Doug Loft.

His dismissal last weekend against Burton Albion means Loft misses Gillingham’s trip to Millwall on Saturday.

There will be plenty of players vying to replace him.

Boss Justin Edinburgh said: “It gives me some food for thought and a decision I have to make as to who comes and takes that position.

“We have good competition and good personnel for that position. It will be a tough one but whoever comes in I will know I can trust them and they will do a fantastic job.”

Edinburgh may look to return Josh Wright to the team. He has been an unused substitute in Gillingham’s last two games and hasn’t featured since the 4-1 defeat to Coventry City.

Youngsters Emmanuel Osadebe and Jordan Houghton will also both be keen for action.

Like Wright, Osadebe has been on the bench for the last two games, while Chelsea loanee Houghton hasn’t played for six matches, having been dropped following Gills’ defeat to Stevenage in the FA Cup.

Jermaine McGlashan is another player who hasn’t had much time on the pitch, ending four games without an appearance by playing 15 minutes at the end of Saturday’s loss to Burton.
