Goalkeeper Tomas Holy has turned down a contract offer from Gillingham and joined League 1 rivals Ipswich Town.

The giant Czech keeper has agreed a two year deal with the Blues.

Holy has been with the Gills since January 2017 and has played over 100 league games for the club, an ever-present in goal last season.

He is a free agent this summer when his contract expires.

On agreeing the deal, the keeper said: "I enjoyed my two years at Gillingham and want to thank them for the opportunity they gave me but it feels the right time to take up a new challenge at Ipswich.

“It's a massive club and I’m looking forward to meeting up with the squad for pre-season and will be ready to play my part in helping Ipswich try to get back in the Championship.”

Ipswich finished bottom of the Championship this season.

The Gills have, meanwhile, agreed a three-year deal with promising youth international keeper Joe Walsh, after he came through the club's junior ranks.
