Chatham Town assistant manager Peter Hawkins calls for an improvement against Cray Wanderers

Chatham have to address their dreadful home form if they want to pull clear of trouble – starting against fellow strugglers Cray.
The sides meet at Maidstone Road on Saturday (3pm) with Chats fired up by comments from Wands’ boss Gary Abbott.
Chats have dropped to 20th in Ryman League, Division 1 North after a run of nine home games without a win.
They’ve failed to score in eight of those matches and assistant boss Peter Hawkins has called for an improvement against second-bottom Cray.
Hawkins said: “We’re in a relegation dogfight and we need to get out of it.
“Cray are going through a tough period as well but apparently their manager has said it’ll be a walkover for them, which hasn’t gone down too well.
“We’ll be looking for a reaction after losing at Soham last weekend and it’s a game we need to win – a point’s no good. Our form’s not been good at home and we need to turn it around, however we go about it.
“Defensively, we’ve not conceded many but we haven’t scored enough goals and that’s been the story of our season.
“The league’s tight at the minute and we can’t keep relying on other teams to lose. It’s down to us to win games and start climbing the table."
